What is Every Door Direct Mail® (EDDM®)?

The United States Postal Service®, or USPS® offers Every Door Direct Mail®, or EDDM® Services, which allow businesses to reach every household in a targeted geographic area without needing to have a mailing list.

The main features of an EDDM® campaign are:

  • Delivery to every address on selected mail carrier routes.
  • No mailing list required.
  • Low postage rates; lower than First-class® or Standard Mail®.
  • Easy way to target local neighborhoods.

Every Door Direct Mail® Products

The USPS® offers two types of EDDM® products.

EDDM Retail®
  • Ideal for small businesses, restaurants, local promotions and political campaigns.
  • Requires a USPS.com account.
  • No special mailing permit is required.
  • Offers postage savings through EDDM® reduced rates.
  • Send at least 200 and up to 5,000 pieces per day per ZIP Code™
 
EDDM BMEU (Business Mail Entry Unit)
  • Ideal for large volume mailings.
  • Requires a USPS Business Customer Gateway account whether your own account or through the services of a mailing partner.
  • Requires USPS Marketing Mail™ permit.
  • Offers futher savings through EDDM® bulk mail postage rates.
  • No volume limit on size of the mailing, multiple ZIP Codes™ can be selected.

Sharpdots Full-Service EDDM®
We take care of everything from designing your mailer, printing, preparing the USPS® paperwork, bundling your mailers (as per USPS® requirements) and delivering them to the post office.
 
Print-Only EDDM® 
We print, bundle (as per USPS® requirements) and ship the EDDM® ready mailers to you. You deliver the mailers to your delivery route local post office and pay the postage at your convenience.
